UNDERSTANDING OUR POSITION IN CHRIST I (February 03, 2019)

God has vested in us the authority on earth
We are ordained to determine the happenings.
From the beginning, He said, “and let them”.
And it has been so ever since
The Problem of Ignorance
The problem has been not knowing nor understanding who we are and what we have. See some examples

First Gideon – Judges 6:12 – 14
The angel referred to him as “thou mighty man of valour”.
He didn’t see himself that way nor even thought he could do anything.

Remember Jeremiah? Jeremiah 1:4 – 7
“Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child”.
God said to him I have made you “a prophet unto the nations”.
God even went further than that saying to him;
“See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant”.
What an exalted position, to be “set…over the nations and over the kingdoms.”
This is tremendous authority given to us.

What was the basis of such tremendous authority?
Jeremiah 1:9:
“And the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth.”

The authority is in God’s words, imparted to Jeremiah. It is still the same today; we are enthroned by anything other than the word of God. You have to take Him at His word.

Remember Mary the mother of Jesus? It was tough for her to see herself as the angel pronounced but then she said

Luke 1:38 ” be it unto me according to thy word”. And Elizabeth the mother of John the Baptist reaffirmed the same to her by the Holy Ghost in verse 45 “And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord”.

It is time to believe, you are much more than whom you think you are.

Who are we?

Jesus our Master said in John 17:16 – 20 We are not of this world. We are sanctified by God Himself by His word. True we are in this world under a secular government, but more so on the spiritual plane to which God has already transformed us we are citizens of Heaven.

Dual citizenship.

By natural birth; a citizen of an earthly nation, and subject to all the ordinances and requirements of his nation’s lawful government. But by spiritual rebirth; a citizen of the kingdom of heaven. Philippians 3:20 “We…are citizens of heaven” (NEB)

As a citizen of heaven, you are not only subject to the laws of the heavenly kingdom, but you are also entitled to share in its authority. The kingdom of God is supreme over all other kingdoms and over all other forces at work on earth.

It is God’s purpose to share the authority of His kingdom with His children.

Luke 12:32 “Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.”

It is of the “good pleasure” of the Father, God was not forced to give it, it was His plan all along. – Ephesians 1:11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance; it is your inheritance in Christ. It is “after the counsel of his own will”. This authority is part of our relationship to Christ. – Ephesians 2:4-6 God’s grace identifies us with Christ in three successive phases.

First, we are ” quickened,” We share His life together with Him.

Second, we are “raised us up,” as Christ was raised up, from the dead. We share in His resurrection.

Third, we are ” made us sit together” that is enthroned in the heavenly kingdom. We share His kingly authority on the throne. These are not when we get to heaven, No; these are our position today. Amen

All these are already accomplished. Not by our own efforts or merits, but purely by Him who does everything “after the counsel of his own will”. His authority makes Him Ruler over all rulers and Governor over all governments.

Psalm 22:28 For the kingdom is the LORD’S: and he is the governor among the nations.

And we share this authority on the throne with Him. For many of us, this is difficult to comprehend, but it is the truth of God’s word. And as Mary did, you must believe This is why all through this week I want you to pray this

Paul’s prayer Ephesians 1:17 – 23 for yourself You have to believe it. It’s looking complicated but it is not; it is the wisdom of God. – 1 Corinthians 2:7 – 8 This truth is for your glory if you can see it You are not of this world; the Spirit of the Almighty God is in you.

“The spirit of the world” Shows us the things of this world. Through this, we understand our earthly citizenship, with all its rights and responsibilities.

“The spirit which is of God” Reveals to us the kingdom of God and our place in it. Through this we understand our rights, responsibilities and authority as citizens of heaven. Without this revelation, we can neither understand nor enjoy the benefits of our heavenly citizenship. Instead of reigning as kings, we find ourselves still toiling as slaves.

From The Beginning It was God’s purpose to share with man His dominion over the earth.

Genesis 1:26 “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion…over all the earth.”

We are to reign in life by faith in Jesus Christ”. This is God’s original purpose in man’s in man’s creation.

I want to close this part today with something glorious. We celebrate this truth mostly at Esther season every time as we should but it also about us and I mean YOU

Mathew 28:6 He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

Well, the truth is that you have risen too. Death has no dominion over you Death has no more dominion over you; YOU ARE ALIVE IN CHRIST VICTORY IS YOUR Jesus is Lord
