MAKING GOD FIRST III 04302017

THINGS TO REMEMBER

  • God has established laws and perimeters that He operates within, and He will not violate those laws.
  • The choices we make concerning our time and the dispensing of our finances are two of the primary ways that we show God His place in our lives.
  • For a Christian, our week starts on Sunday! The first day of the week we offer to worship.
  • Our time can be redeemed and our success truly does begin on Sunday.
  • The Lord said to prove Him with the tithe, not pay Him with it.
  • I long to see the day when the body of Christ will resign from the quest for excess and begin to pass our extra provision on to the ones who need it.
  • If there is no redemption at work in your life and you don’t know what to do with your life, then your life is meaningless.
  • This is not about money at all.
  • It is about lordship.
  • It is not a matter of His love for us—it’s a matter of His lordship in our lives.
  • Every covenant or agreement between two parties always carries two-way responsibility.
  • If every Christian would simply give God the first fruits and the best in tithes and offerings, there would be no need for “special collections”.
  • If we all gave the way God designed, we would have enough resource to reach the whole world and still be able to meet needs at home!
  • It is important for us to take a little “dream time” to capture the reality of the opportunity before us.
  • The “deceitfulness of riches” is the reason we, as the church, don’t do more giving than we do.
  • You don’t have a life worth living if you haven’t found a cause worth dying for.

MAKE THESE YOUR GOALS FOR GIVING

  • I recognize God as the rightful owner of all that I possess.
  • God knows what I need before I ever ask.
  • I will work with diligence and wisdom to earn income.
  • I will offer to him the first fruits and the best of all that He blesses me with.
  • I will give offerings from the portion that remains.
  • I will gratefully accept the harvest that will be returned to me.
  • I will encourage those who may doubt that consistent giving will reap a reward.
